Aspbury Planning & Heritage Ltd have been instructed by ARC Partnership Ltd to prepare a Full Planning Application to Nottinghamshire County Council for the erection of a new two storey classroom replacing existing mobile classroom at Lady Bay School and a temporary modular classroom on school playing field to later be converted to changing room for school use, with perimeter security fencing.

Technical Reports Summary Statements

Transport

Transport and access arrangements has been carefully considered as part of the proposals. Pedestrian access at Adbolton Playing Fields has been incorporated to ensure safe access, with clearly defined visibility and traffic control measures to minimise disruption, prioritising pedestrian movements at the intersection of the new access driveway. Sustainable travel has been considered to the fields to encourage safe walking and cycling routes. Existing travel patterns at Lady Bay Primary School will be reviewed and measures will be identified as pupil capacity is not increasing as a result of the proposal.

Ecology

The new classroom block at Lady Bay Primary School has been designed to retain existing mature trees. New planting via boundary hedges will be introduced as a measure to encourage biodiversity net gain whilst also softening and making more visually appealing edges to the existing school playground. At Adbolton Playing Fields, the building has been designed to maintain buffers to boundary habitats along the perimeter boundaries through an efficient building location on the site.

Drainage

Lady Bay Primary School is located on an area of hardstanding. The proposals will include a sustainable drainage strategy to manage surface water safely. This will also be applicable to Adbolton Playing Fields as this measure will help reduce runoff and ensure the development does not increase flood risk on or off site.

Acoustic

The new classroom block at Lady Bay Primary School has been designed to ensure that noise generated by students playing in the schoolyard will not impact the surrounding buildings. As there is no increase the total number of pupils at the school, there will be no rise in noise levels during outdoor playground times. The noise generated by students playing in the schoolyard is historical due to the long-standing location of the school. At Adbolton Playing Fields, as the site is currently used as a playing field, the noise level here will be maintained.

Sustainability

The new classroom block at Lady Bay Primary School has been designed with an energy efficient building fabric, low carbon and renewable energy systems and natural daylighting and ventilation. This will help create a comfortable, healthy learning environment for pupils and staff while reducing the building’s environmental impact.  The buildings also encourage sustainable materials and construction and have been designed for durability and adaptability.

Please note that the deadline for submissions has now passed.
