Location: Halifax

Commercial   Heritage Impact Assessments   Planning Applications and Other Consents   Site Appraisals and Planning Strategy

Client: Calderdale Council

Application Type: Planning Permission and listed building consent

Brief Description: GT3 Architects required support with the planning process and managing the application.  The development proposal was for demolition (retention of sports hall) and replacement facility to include, 25m 6 lane pool, teaching pool, cafe, adventure play and adventure climbing, multifunction rooms, fitness suite, and studios.

The Planning Strategy involved commissioning a number of technical reports and ‘front loading’ the application to limit the number of pre-commencement conditions to allow demolition to take place.   Hebble Brook was culverted under the existing facility and a comprehensive drainage strategy was put forward along with Tree Surveys, Ecology Assessments and Transport Assessments.

The Site was close to designated Heritage Assets and a Heritage Impact Assessment set out the impacts in accordance with the Planning (Conservation and Listed Buildings) Act 1990  and NPPF.
