Appeal success for Rose Cottage

Location: Bitteswell

Heritage   Planning Appeal

Client: Jason Black

Application Type: Appeal

Proposal: Conversion of outbuildings and erection of a single storey side extension at Rose Cottage, Manor Road, Bitteswell. Refused by LPA (Harborough District Council) on the grounds that the proposal would cause substantial harm to the Conservation Area due to the obstruction of the historic view from Manor Road to the Grade II* Listed Church and from Lutterworth Road through to Manor Road.

Brief Description: Appeal Win – The Inspector agreed with our statement of case and heritage impact assessment.  Concluding; ‘Having regard to all the above considerations, I conclude that the proposed scheme would cause no harm to the Bitteswell CA. Rather, its effect would be neutral, and the CA’s character and appearance would thus be preserved. So too would its significance as a heritage asset. The setting of the Church would likewise be unharmed.’
