Planning News

The Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) launch date has been confirmed as 12th February 2024!

As of that date, demonstrating BNG will be mandatory for new Planning Applications for major development made under the Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) 1990 (unless otherwise exempt). Major development includes residential developments with 10 or more dwellings, or where the site area is greater than 0.5 hectares.

BNG requires developers to provide at least 10% of the biodiversity value found on the site prior to the development. BNG can be delivered either fully or in part through on-site habitat, off-site habitat, or as a last resort, the purchase of statutory biodiversity credits. The created and enhanced habitat will be secured for a minimum of 30 years.

With this additional requirement it’s more important than ever to get the advice of an expert and get a Planning Application right first time.

Planning Legislation is our bread and butter. Our RTPI accredited Town Planners work hard to ensure they are up to date with all of the most recent changes to assist you with your applications.
